Cookin Foods' Kitchen: Delicious Recipes

Ingredients

General Tso's Tofu

Oils

  • 5ish Tbsp Canola Oil

Fruits/Veggies

  • 3 Heads Broccoli
  • 3 TBSP Fresh Grated Ginger
  • 1 Stack of Green Onions

Sauce Ingredients

  • 4 TBSP Brown Sugar
  • 3 Tbsp Hoisin
  • 3 Tbsp Rice Vinegar
  • 3 TBSP Ketchup
  • 2 TBSP Soy Sauce
  • 1/2 Cup Water
  • 2 TBSP Sriracha (for whatever you prefer for spice)

Dry Ingredients

  • 2 TBSP Cornstarch
  • 1 TBSP Sesame oil
  • 1 Cup uncooked Rice

Protein

  • 1 Brick Tofu


Instructions:

 

  1. First, get your rice cooking, I use a pressure cooker which has a rice setting.
  2. Drain tofu of excess water, Use a press or just drain and wrap in a few paper towels and let sit for 10ish minutes.
  3. While waiting for tofu, mix together the sauce ingredients and set aside. 
  4. Heat a skillet on medium with about a ½ inch of vegetable oil inside. While heating, slice tofu into ½" slices, then cut each slice into thirds. Coat each cube lightly with cornstarch and then place into pan until browned and crispy. You may have to turn up the heat under the pan a bit. Remove  from frying pan and set aside on paper towels. 
  5. Wipe pan clean and add the broccoli with 1 TBSP of oil and cook until burning at the edges (5-10 minutes). Remove the Broccoli and add the sesame oil, Most of the green onions, and chopped ginger. Cook about 1 minute, until fragrant. Add the broccoli back and the sauce mixture to pan, bring to a boil, and simmer about 2 minutes. Add tofu to mixture, toss to coat. Top with green onions.
